30 Days - Day 3
I would love to say that today's 30 Days of Nothing was easier. I'd be stretching the truth to say that.
Notice below in today's spending that I spent $21.85 at the vet for heart worm preventative. Silly stuff was back ordered and NOW it comes in! Still, I'd much rather pay for prevention than for treatment. We cut corners in this area with another dog and the end result was medical bills that were much higher than the original cost of the medicine. We've learned our lesson.
I am so glad that I grocery shopped on Sunday (my usual day through the summer), meaning we have plenty of groceries to get us through the week. Otherwise, it'd be a choice between pet medicine and people food. Really no choice when I look at it like that.
My gas is going much quicker than I thought it would now that I'm driving The Boy to and from school (no buses for private school). I won't adjust my $50 spending a week to account for gas until I confirm that it's really necessary. And with the car pool starting next week I'll only be driving about half as much...
Meals: Breakfast - nothing (me)
waffles & milk (The Boy)
Lunch - leftover enchiladas (me)
peanut butter/honey sandwich, salad, rice cake, yogurt, water (The Boy)
Dinner - Chicken Tucson & corn (made 9x9 pan for dinner, froze 2 9x13 pans)
Daily Spending: $2.16 (CVS - 2 water bottles, 2 lip gloss, 1 ice pack)
$21.85 (Vet - back ordered heart worm preventative finally came in)
Weekly Spending: $24.24
Remaining: $25.76

Just getting caught up on your blog...this is amazing that you're doing this! We are doing something sort of similar, more out of necessity than anything else, and it's crazy to see what is an actual need as opposed to something we just want.
You know, every time I see your blog I'm in awe. You are one amazing lady to be doing this. If my husband were deployed I'd be a heap of helpless moan (Yes, I'm that whimpy). So you are truely my hero to keep the homefront going on your own.
I find that real change is often harder at first but the results are well worth it.
Keep up the great work.
Cheri,
Be encouraged, my friend. I don't know if I could have done this 30 day thing while Bear was deployed. In fact, while he was gone, I usually spent much more than I should have. Our movie and pizza night came about because I needed a break from cooking and the drudgery of the weeks.
On another note, I have medium-shoulder length hair and I missed getting it trimmed last week, now I'm doing this Nothng for 30 days and so I'm thinking I will just trim it myself. I do my bangs myself anyway, and so I'll do the ends now too. Maybe next month I'll hve to get a real haircut, but at least I'll be frugal in Sept! Ha Ha
Keep it up, you know even if you have to break down and spend, at least you will have been much more frugal just by being aware of your spending.
